Thanks all.
Abs was purchased for me, but it was clear who she chose........
She was a 2 time Prize II UT dog, despite my rookie ways. She handled me well.
She earned a Prize II with my 12 year old son,

whom I told could NOT hunt with Abby until he passed a UT with her. She handled him well.

I still remember the year that Abby and Max took 1st and 2nd place at the SMCNA Hunter derby with Melissa Herz at the gun.
I guess our favorite memories are when she allowed her brilliance shine throw.
Whether it was playfully dangling a toy in front of a puppy, just long enough to peak its interest, while she back tracked and stole their food.
Or how she sneak down the basement stairs, behind Jim and slide into the side bathroom, where she would quietly wait until Jim fed the cat and returned upstairs. Abby would then eat the cat food, run back up the stairs and issue a bark letting us know she wanted back upstairs. Red faced, we knew we just got played by the best of them.
Then, to soon the hearing goes, the eyes cloud, and the mind slips. You see it coming, yet you are blind. Blinded by the memories of the hunts, the tests, the training, the sassy yet clever antics.
Then it hits you and when it hits you,man it is brutal, it sends a burn that penetrates down to your being, your soul.
That is how I feel having NOT owned her.
Although my husband's pain is great, his heart his heavy, he is the lucky one........lucky to have been CHOSEN by such a loving, talented, and sassy dog like Abby.
To own and feel the love of a dog is a blessing. But to be chosen by a dog is divine.
- Me :- )
I love you Abby. ❤
