GSP Needs a rescue

Postby GSPmom+2 » Sun Dec 21, 2008 7:42 am

I have been looking for a GSP rescue ,sent out plenty of email but as of yet no responce. If any one has any ideas please let me know. This is a 10 month pup, all shots current, neutered. Pup, would make a fine companion,he does need more work, But he is no hunter.Has no interest at all. likes to play ball though. HE is gun shy and has no prey drive.
It could be my fault for the lack of time to spend with him or it could be the fact as a very young pup his breeders kids squirted him with water alot and there were game birds all around in pens and he was told to stay away from them.
For the first 6mos I had him I work with him daily he was coming along slow, no problem but my job changed, homelife changed, and now the Other Gsp I have is going down hill , I am overwhelmed and feel for Moose it would be the the BEST thing I could do for him at this time, HE is a lover not a Hunter. HE has lots of energy to burn, I do take him out and run him 1-2 times a day.

So if anyone knows of a Rescue with room I would greatly apprecate it.

Thanks And A MERRY CHRISTMAS And A BLESSED NEW YEAR !

sorry to hear the problems

the people involved with rescue are really busy this time of year like everyone else.
Have you talked to the breeder?
A GSP with no prey drive is unusual and the breeder needs to know their dogs produced a so to speak 'dud'
but should be easier to home to a non-hunting forever home.

maybe post on www.shorthairs.net if you don't hear from anyone else

The Dog was a gift, to help ease the pain of losing the other one , This was an accidental breeding in the field while hunting . The Breeder is worthless. The father has plenty of drive, the mother is however a not so great hunter .

SO, That is why he is going into rescue, we did finly get rescue to take him but he is in New Mexico and the Rescue is in Maryland. SO next step getting him there.
