Duck Hunt

Postby RowdyGSP » Mon Nov 07, 2022 3:19 pm

Had a good, but pretty dang cold duck hunt yesterday with Rowdy. Took more time to set up and pull deeks than it did to actually shoot my 7 bird limit. Quite the mixed bag. 2 wigeon, a greenhead, a GWT, a gadwall, a bufflehead and a cinnamon teal of all things. First cinnamon for me and shocked to see them here this late in the year. Normally they leave with the wood ducks.

Sorry not letting me upload photos on here lately. Not sure what's going on.

Cool on the cinnamon teal. Bucket list bird for me that I have never taken or even knowingly seen in the central flyway. I bet the migration is wide open right now. Driving home from a road trip Friday morning before daylight it was 12 in ND with a 20 mph north west wind.

It was a hen. I had to google differences between hen blue wing and hen cinnamon teal to be able to tell. We don't really have either here or in Oregon where I grew up.

Nice when the birds cooperate. Lots of days when they don't.

For years we had a pair of Cinnamon Teal nest in our farm pond. They were always gone long before duck season.
