Today I took Rowdy out to some timber company land the public is allowed to hunt on. I've put up both grouse and quail here and they were the target, but I had a Fall turkey tag in my pocket as well. Rowdy went on point in some stuff that looked good for either grouse or quail. As I walked in I saw a red head duck behind a young sapling and then the Tom took flight. First shot with the 2 3/4" 7.5s hit its ass at 10 yards or so and the second shot, I lead more and dumped it at 20 yards. Rowdy was a happy boy. Decent Tom with 10.5" beard and 1 1/4" daggers. It had an old but bad shin injury where the bone was completely exposed in its leg on the front side, but it seemed to have gotten around just fine.
