Lido got sick, currently being treated for giardia...so no trip.

The pup looks good! Spud never gets old.

I forget what powder the vet put Tygh on when he had giardia, but whatever it was it cleared it up within a week. Might have been fenbenzedol, as Harvey said.
You have to be smarter than the dog to train it.

When I picked up Bay from KJ two years ago, she had it. Painted our floors and carpet. What I found that helped was to eliminate as much fat as possible from diet along with Fenbendazole. Yes, it is in powder form, available at some pet stores and farm supply houses. Save yourself and dog a trip to the vet.

Think the top bird in the two photos is a Sharptail/Prairie Chicken Hybrid

The education of Tess continues with Pheasants this past week. Excellent trip. Limits of Roosters every day. Was a Blizzard 3 of the 5 days.

Tess's First Drop hunting Pheasants.

Tess and I in a Blizzard

Spud and I headed back to the truck with our 3rd rooster in the vest

Tess Retrieving a Rooster

Shot this one over Tess's point. Dropped at the shot but wasn't dead. Tess got on it, the tussle wrecked the tail but here she is coming in proud.

Another Rooster for Tess completing her first full limit

Tess is on point in those cattails. It was a hen

Bonus Chicken off of Spud's point

Bonus Sharptail for Spud

Last day of the trip. Had one Rooster off of a point from Tess on the first drop. Hunted Spud at the second drop. What a photo op this was. Made the trip for me.

Image

And it was a Rooster!

Image

Spud pointed our 3rd rooster in the cattails along the edge. I went to flush, a rooster went up and I dropped it into the water. Spud stood steady, buried in the cattails as several other pheasants including 2 roosters flushed around us. I released him and walked around the pond to a spot where I could get to the bank without falling into the water. I lined Spud on the Blind retrieve and sent him. It was 15 degrees out.

3 Shell limit over points on the last day. One for Tess and 2 for Spud.

Lots of Wildlife

Those Buffs looked pretty natural in that blizzard and grass

Image

Lots of Pronghorns

The Main Event

Image

Spud pointed this Porky way off and not very intense. Just standing there and never moved. I heeled him off. Cautiously optimistic he has learned his lessons about Porkys.

Image

Last day Tess and I were hunting on the first drop when I hear the telltale clucking. Followed my ears to the sky and this flock of mixed Sharptails and Chickens came gliding in and landed in the trees. They are such cool birds.
