Just got my first auto, CZ 1012

I've hunted with the same 870 since 1987. I decided to reward my stoicism with a new 12 gauge auto. I wanted something light for walking pheasant, the CZ 1012 weighs 6.5lbs. I ordered one, grey with walnut (to match my DD pup), from Centerfireguns.com. Cleaned it up and lubed it last night, can't wait to hit the range. I noticed it shoulders differently than my 870: the stock doesn't come up as high on my cheek and I have to move the butt up my shoulder a little to sight the top rib.

I know it's a fairly new model but does anyone have experience with this gun?

Looks like a beautiful gun. Since it doesn't seem to fit the way you expect, I thought I'd mention that a lot of modern autoloaders come with a shim kit that you can use to adjust the drop in the rear stock. I'm not 100% sure if this gun does or not. If it does, and if you can find someone local who knows about fitting, take the gun and the shims to them and ask them to help. If not, the pattern board is your friend. Experiment with different shims until the gun shoots where you're looking.

Looks and sounds like a nice Inertia gun and that 6.5 lbs will be appreciated for carrying but I bet it has a sharp recoil on the magnum loads, much like the 870 and maybe a little more do to less weight. I will be interested to hear your thoughts after getting it out patterning and shooting with it. I grew up with the 870 and moved to semi auto guns about 4 years ago. I have several now both gas and inertia. They all have their pro's and con's but the one closest to shooting like the 870 is the V3. The others all have shim kits that I immediately put the 60 or 65mm drop and right hand cast spacer on after patterning all but the V3 as it didn't come with shims. It is amazing how much difference these little shims make!

I have no experience with the gun but if you want to send it to North Idaho for a test run and me to evaluate it I'll give you my honest review Seriously, that is a very nice gun. Let us know how it shoots, I'm jealous!
