Your go to Waterfowl Gun?

I have been using an SX3 for waterfowl for the past five years with zero issues. A friend uses a Maxus, also zero issues.

I have an A400 with ko 28" its light and absolutely reliable, points nice, swings fast. Shoots 3" very mild recoil. I love it. But for some strange reason this year I have been carrying an old Steven's sweet 16 side by side. If there is wet weather the a400 is it, I liked the coating that made it safe to use in saltwater. And the recoil reduction. I thought if I'm spending all this money why not pick one with reduced recoil and fancy coatings to protect the gun. I'm not a clean freak either once a year cleaning is all a gun is gonna get from me.

I use the Stoeger m3500 for everything since about 2013. Every time I think of replacing it I shoot it and think why? Mine will eat anything I put in it from less than 1oz to monster turkey loads. I shot that thing so much the camo is wearing off leaving white hand print on the stock and forearm. I replaced the recoil spring after 20 some thousand rounds. Thinking of going up to the 28" barrel from the 24". You have the tractor model only place to go is for the Ferrari SBE3. Gas guns are for people who like to clean

Majority of the time I shoot a FABARM mag Lion O/U, occasionally I'll shoot my 1954 Sweet 16 A5.

I started this thread a while back. I am now serious about getting a new shotgun for mostly waterfowl. Serious enough that I bought the Beretta A400 Xtreme Plus. It has the kick-off feature and I am not a fan. It hits my cheek bone with every shot due to the kick off feature. Maybe its fit and maybe I could work around it with fitting it better for me, but I don't want a gun that I can't borrow out and has to fit the person perfectly to not bruise their eye. Anyway, I am selling it.

Any new thoughts on shotgun models out there that aren't too bad in the recoil department? I have a wooden stock Browning Silver Hunter that I have liked for years now. I could just go with that in camo since I know I like it. I am also looking hard at the Maxus as that is one some have seemed to really like, and I have had good luck with the browing I currently own. I have also considered the SBE 3, but not too sure I like the POA, shooting high issue. Also, I read one guy felt it kicked harder than the 2.

Any new feedback on your guns or guns you have used. I am wanting a very reliable and durable gun for the long haul. I don't usually buy and sell guns often. Any feedback is appreciated.

Took back my Beretta and got a Browning Maxus 2. I shot a handful of rounds through it and liked how it handled and shot. I shot light dove loads and some 3 inch duck loads through it. Cycled them all without a hitch. Didn’t shoot very many. It will take some time to know it’s durability of course.

I have a fleet of Brownings, Berettas and Benellis. I call them my Killer Bs. All of them nice shotguns. 3 of them see the most use.

SBE2 with a 24 inch barrel, camo pattern, sling, Patternmaster Long Range Goose extended choke and a Truglo mico sight, has become my Spring Gobbler specialist.

New A5 is a wonderful waterfowl gun. Natural shooting from the first shell forward.

Benelli 6lb Ultralight, screw-in chokes with a 24 inch barrel and a sling is perfect for all things Upland.

I'll take a wild guess at this and it has to do with the recoil control system being designed to protect the shoulder, lots of compression, at the sacrifice of the cheek. Bending or shimming the stock so as it comes back, it doesn't move toward the cheek will fix this. The stock may not fit afterward which is why I like wood where the comb can be tapered toward the front so as to maintain fit in the process. The comb should recoil away from the face.

This is the Beretta KickOff Recoil Reduction system. It is not bending the stock. I am surprised Jack had problems with it. My complaint was the guns that have it are way heavier than anything I will use. I shot my Brother's gun with kickoff and noticed no problems with recoil to my face. I did notice the gun was over a pound heavier and bulky compared to my SBE2 or A5.
