I do not own a bird nor do I hunt birds simply because there aren't enough birds left to hunt. Now I gave up the bird dogs years ago and went to coon hounds and never had so much fun. I now have treeing feist and they are bred for squirrel. Some folks think that almost any dog will make a squirrel dog but that could not be furthur from the truth. A pointer is bred to hunt, find and point birds. A Treeing Feist is bred to hunt, find and tree squirrels. Now if you have no birds and plenty of woods to hunt squirrel a Treeing Feist or a Mountain Cur might be just the ticket. There are competition squirrels hunts all over and anyone is welcome to come and see the dogs in action(a squirrel will not be killed but plenty will be treed). You might find that a squirrel dog is a sporting breed. I am not in the dog business nor do I have puppies to sell but if you want to find out more about the little Feist dogs or the Old Mountain Curs that are tree dogs you may e-mail me or visit my website.
