Bill, there are pros and cons to most. If that is the same picture of the lion and the dogo I saw, look carefully. The lion is a starved bag of bones with a club foot, no canines, and a huge growth on the rear. Probable declawed also. Guaranteed, NO lion will sit there like that wile a dog chews on it. I have also seen pictures of what hogs can and will do to a dogo. The dog is just as dead as any other dog. Dogos are good dogs in many ways. The problem with them is that they are the only bull breed capable of effectively hunting for itself. What this does is, on many occassions, put the dog a considerable distance fron you and he is going to catch. A bad hog will kill him before you get there to save his but. Generally bay dogs do the locating and the catch dogs are walked in on a leash. Catch dogs ar largely a waste of time and good dogs unless you want to catch them live to castrate them. Jags are more of a waste of time than anything else. They may work the way hogs are hunted in Germany where the hogs are herded to the hunter but they work in that scenario because the hog are not stopped unless they stop to laugh. Good BMC's are good dogs all around. They are not catch dogs but can put the brakes on them and keep them at bay. They are probably easier to get started if there is a limited supply of game although, the right dales are tough to beat. Airedales may or may not catch but they hunt silent and closer in normally like a cur. If it comes to a showdown and they are bumping heads with the hog, a good dale won't back down so it can be pretty touchy. My catchy dogs used to at least wait till they heard me coming. Two dogs can bay and hold a hog with no high pressure and no one getting hurt. Stay away from using a lot of dogs and if you are with someone else that has dogs also. take turns running the dogs. Don't get more than two on the ground. They can do it and get to walk away unhurt more often.
Ignorance can be fixed but stupid is forever.
Law of Logical Argument - Anything is possible IF you don't know what you are talking about.
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Jim Beam in one hand, Airedale in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"
