Hello all,
I've been a lurker here for years and have been impressed with the depth of knowledge and experience. I finally registered to put a question to you as a search brought up no results. Has anyone used or seen used a neoprene knee brace on dogs suffering from an ACL/ CCL tear or similar injury. Do they seem to work or help?
My 9 yr old setter has been diagnosed with a partial tear. Surgery has been recommended with a $3500 to $4,000 price tag, and apparently tearing the other knee is a distinct possibility. Putting up to $4K into a dog with maybe three or four seasons left in her is a tough call. I haven't looked into rehab possibilities yet in lieu of surgery, but a friend mentioned seeing a dog recently wearing a brace. Hell, I wear one, and it seems to work for me.
There are several knee braces for dogs listed on Amazon, most with three or four star ratings, although many of the ratings are from people who bought it yesterday and "love it." So I'm curious if anyone has had or seen success with them on hunting breeds.
Thanks for your help,
Longroad
