Lick Sores

Need the best way to cure lick sores.I have a 2 year old setter that every time she gets cut it take about 2 months to heal cause she keeps on licking the wound.I have to put a bandage on the wound to keep her from licking it.
Best regards
Oleman

Oleman, I usually use a long term course (3-4 weeks) of antibiotics and either topical cortisone creams or I inject a cortisone compound into the lesion. Wrapping helps but often these dogs are so driven to chew (either from allergies or boredom) that the wraps don't last long. You can also use a E-collar (lamp shade looking thing) to protect the sore and let it heal.
