I have a seven year old Ess that I would like to breed one more time. She has
had 4 litters with the same male and I have several people that would like a
pup from this final litter. Would it be too much for her at 71/2 to have
pups. She is in good health and her last litter in June she did fine. What do
you recommend?
Normally I don't like to breed a dog much past 6 or 7, I often notice a smaller litter size in older bitches and it seems like I see more puppy mortality. That being said, if the dog is in good shape and gets a clean bill of health from your vet than she will probably do fine. I would retire her from breeding after this litter, sounds like she deserves some time off! Dr. Mike |
