Plus $32 for a 60 count bottle of HA Flex? I see that is what you reccomend along with Glucosamine + MSM for a dog with arthritis. That is about $24 a month in supplements PLUS their regular food. And on top of that you mention that they should be on a high quality fish oil supplement. I think we have probably reached about $75 a month here....

Why do you bristle so much whenever I bring this food up? It works, I never said your supplements don't work.....this is just another option.

The 'special' I have listed clear at the bottom of the Order Blank will get 240 days of gluc + MSM & HA for $175.
HA is only needed if a dog has confirmed arthritis.
8 months of the liquid Fish Oil that I have is $72.

So, for all 3, it's a little more than $30 a month......... Plus food.

Personally, i think that because our dogs are athletes, they should be nutriented as such.

Exactly - plus food. IDK what you feed, but most quality dog foods are around $40 for 40 pounds. That would last my active dog about a month. So not much difference in price. And so much more convenient.

The OP was asking about a 13 yr old hunting dog - safe to assume the dog has at least SOME arthritis. I wouldn't feed JD to a dog without arthritis, it's not necessary and it's too expensive.

Right on about treating our dogs like athletes - couldn't agree more.

I am considering a glucosamine supplement for one of my vizslas who will be 13 this year. She is starting to have isssues at times, although not serious, with stairs and jumping onto her chair. I have never heard any negatives regarding glucosamine; all has been either positive or having had no effect. What are your thoughts on the supplement? And has anybody's dog had any side effects or other negatives from the product?

I would use Annamaet Endure. It is very concentrated and one of the very few supplements around with stabilized Perna.

Perna is the only supplement that has been proven to work by multiple peer reviewed studies.

Glucosamine can't hurt but is not very effective in the short-term.

Also, MSM is a complete scam. It is marketed for everything, including baldness. It is nothing but sulfur.
