NA test one month and counting.

A little less than a month until our NA test. Being a navhda newby, I'm trying not to have any expectations on how Ranger will score. I certainly hope he does well but I've really got nothing to lose. He seems to have very good drive. He has pointed well in the past, but I haven't had any birds to work him on lately. I think it's late enough in the summer that I could start running him around on some wild birds without hurting anything. He tracks ground squirrels really well, so hopefully they will use a squirrel instead of the pheasant for tracking. He loves the water and fetches a bumper from it regularly. However, I'm most confident in his butterfly chasing abilities. He will chase butterflies in the back yard for hours on end. I'm sure he will get a 4 in the butterfly category! You may have heard of a duck stare...well below is the butterfly stare.

Good looking pup! Clearly he hates the water!

Best of luck in NA, keep us posted on how it comes out.

That's awesome, good looking pup. I had a Labrador, was my best friend and hunting companion for 10yrs, and all he did for his first 2 years was chase butterflies or swim. He'd do either one for hours if you let him. He became a fantastic pheasant dog. Good luck at the NA, relax & have fun with it and I'm sure he'll do great.
