Invitational report

Postby Griff557 » Mon Sep 19, 2011 9:20 am

Had a good time at the Invitaional the weather was perfect the day I ran and the grounds were great. We had a good run going until the field section Max had been backing pretty reliable all summer but his brace mate was crowding his points and not backing and Max decided he didn't need to back either  so you know the rest of the story...... 181 no pass :( like they say it is what it is. Enough of this testing baloney its time to go shoot things for real. Congrats to Howie and the rest of the bunch that made the cut. Hope everyone has a safe enjoyable hunting season.

Too bad, but you can be proud just to have run in the test, congratulations! And, as you say, the real deal is hunting, so go get em!

Thanks, It would have been nice to qualify but if it was easy everyone would do it. He's still a good dog and it kinda proved my theory that "it's better to lucky than good". I had a good time am glad I went. I'll chalk it up to experience and maybe if I get a chance to take my puppy there in the future we'll have better luck.

Scott, You have a very nice dog in Max. One you can be proud of. It'll be fun watching your pup develop. If the rain lets up we can get out and bang some grouse.

Max could have passed on any given day. Saturday was not his day. Ya gotta wonder what goes through a dogs head at times.

The dog that wins the claret jug isn't always the best dog. I bet we'd all be happy to hunt with your dog any day.
