Axel is a complete bird dog. He has great bird sense and is a tireless worker in the field. He received a NAVHDA Utility Prize 1 (195 pts) at 2 years and 4 months in September 2008. He then went on to Pass the 2009 NAVHDA Invitational and earn the coveted Versatile Champion title. His parents are also both NAVHDA Versatile Champions. We will continue to pursue his AKC Master Hunter (currently 1 leg completed) and particiapte in AKC Walking Trials in the coming year.
Axel has a knack for finding birds and has been staunch from day one. His nose is one of the best I have ever seen. Axel's duck searches are amazing to watch. He tears apart a pond from bank to bank and everywhere in between. Axel has all the qualities we look for in a versatile hunting companion. He is very comfortable in the duck blind and has made some nice retrieves in his young career. He has shown great promise in the grouse woods nailing down some wiley Ohio grouse and woodcock.
Axel's greatest attribute is his personality. He is easy to train and a fun dog to be around. He is never cross with other dogs and is great with my kids. He has a great balance of cooperation and drive.
