Keeping your pup enthusiastic over the retrieve

Hi, I am 15 years old and I have a 8 month old chocolate lab that I have been working with for about 3 months now. She has come a long way but sometimes she is not very enthusiastic about retrieving and seems to get bored very easily. What can I do to get her more excited about retrieving and make it fun for her? Also, I was wondering if I should go ahead and force fetch her or have a professional do it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thank you

Hello,

I am impressed that a 15 yr old is so motivated to train.

Here is what I recommend for your pup. Reduce the amount of time you spend retrieving until the dog is through the force fetch. Puppies bore very easily and when they do you have no way to enforce the retrieve. Retrieving should be fun for a puppy and it is up to you to make sure the pup does not get bored. The pups in my kennel that have not been through the FF get one or two retrieves per session then they are put away in a crate. They are always put away before they are satisfied or bored. it makes the pup much more intense the next time out.

Good Luck,
